Cryptocurrency & Metaverse Vision For Azhen Sanctuary

Working towards a brighter future includes learning from age-old wisdom, but also combining it with new technology.

Azhen is a place that celebrates experimentation and trial error, because that’s how we learn and grow.

Cryptocurrency gives us all an opportunity for a decentralized financial system, peer-to-peer lending, data ownership and security, and so much more.

While we don’t enjoy sitting in front of a screen for too long or device addiction, we do see a potential opportunity for the metaverse to be used in a good way to share our educational content so it’s more accessible.

And opportunities to support Indigenous art and designers with NFTs.

If it suits your fancy we also plan to experiment with all forms of alternative energy, and quantum technology for increasing plant health and yield.

Here are some of the visions Azhen has for its future…

This year you’ll be able to pay with the cryptocurrency of your choice.

Starting with retreats and events, both as a guest or as a host renting the space.

We will also be accepting donations in cryptocurrency through our non-profit.

If and when we decide to start using our own booking platform for nightly stays, in addition to Airbnb and HipCamp, you’ll be able to use crypto there too.

And for purchasing add-ons and things from our general store when you stay with us.

An NFT is a one-of-a-kind digital asset that can be bought and sold like any other piece of property.

It’s commonly used for digital art and links that art to a unique digital fingerprint so it can’t be authentically duplicated (aka it’s more secure against people copying the art).

NFTs of pixelated characters may be a fad… but how about an NFT around Indigenous culture where the owners get real functionality such as:

• Access to authentic events, retreats and workshops

• Stake in real land

• A VIP community

• High value educational courses

• The ability to unlock bonus NFTs

• And much more

All built-in to art embodying the legendary elements of an iconic culture.

The Azhen NFT collection is being created by authentic Indigenous artists and doubles as an educational journey that connects the NFT owners to Indigenous history, culture and symbo

It is expected to launch in 2022 under a dedicated brand.

We’re brainstorming if it makes sense to launch a cryptocurrency of our own or partner with an existing company.

We want to use or create something that connects with our values – buying local, purchasing real food directly from the farmer, helping simplify and encourage the adoption of crypto for businesses and customers, or even doing full scale rural land developments and selling community-oriented carbon-negative real estate.

If it’s not the creation of a currency technology, maybe it’s the creation of tools to help use existing crypto.

There are very few tools that let us use cryptocurrency to accept short-term rental bookings, sell our educational content, and operate our business to the standard we’re looking for.

With a background in software it might make sense to build some ourselves.

Travelling for education costs extra and takes longer. That’s why a lot of people choose online learning and why we offer online versions of our educational courses.

But there’s some items that aren’t learned as well through a regular video. Such as learning what contour is and how to use it to design your land. This example is a permaculture concept that will be included in our future Permaculture Design Certificate program.

Using the metaverse to offer 3D education may provide a better more interactive learning experience while still keeping it accessible to more people.

Don’t worry though… we’ll always offer good old fashion in-person workshops. That’s where the magic happens.
